At Albumprinter, I am the chief architect since 2006.
Albumprinter is one of the largest providers of services to create personalized photo books. The company offers consumer software, order platform, production facility and transportation services. Business customers are several large retailers such as Hema and Tesco, and Albumprinter's own consumer brand Albelli.
We just launched new AIR-based software in partnerships with Photobucket and several other large players on the internet.
I am responsible for the software architecture at AP. Basically, this means the architectural alignment of all new initiatives, based on a high-level vision.
My tasks are to:
- Create overall architecture description and business domain model;
- Determine feasibility of project proposals depending on business value, architecture and business domain alignment;
- Create architecture briefs for projects;
- Practice and publish technical and conceptual R&D efforts;
- Advise the management team on just about everything they ask me.
Mainly, I try to connect the right people. As an agile architect (we use SCRUM in multiple teams all through the organization) it is critical to make sure that self-organizing team efforts converge.
