Flipflop bans
Damn, still in Bangkok. After a smooth return from the isle of empty headed pleasure, we decided to stay in BKK for one night, do some laundry and leave for Sukothai. However, the rain decided to force another BKK day upon us, for our laundrylady didn't want to return the soaking wet clothes untill hey were properly dried (ethos is not the problem here). So, another day to fill in a city we probably know better by now than our own Utrecht. It's just as wet, too..
We went to see the anatomic and forensic museum in the BKK hospital, quite a freak show (good! good! good!). Finally I saw siamese twins in large numbers, as one should here. After that we decided to finally go into the royal palace (which, until now, we always considered to be too expensive, bottom-down as we were). Very Asian indeed, lots of glittering golden stuff (Mascha was forced by uniformed baboons to put on some shoes, for flipflops are not allowed (well, they are for thai and monks, but we are white, obviously, and white feet are far more offending as we all know (..))). Tomorrow we will try again to go to Sukothai. I wonder if we ever ge there.....
