Bubbles and bad luck
I got back from Galapagos 2 days ago, after having such good luck (Veronica, the ecuadorian girl, is the luckiest person I have ever met! everything she wants comes true!). So since we were incredibly lucky, I'm sick now. Just
makes sense.
The best time in Galapagos was when I was snorkeling in a place devils crown" which is supposed to be the dwelling place of many white fin sharks (now why on earth a sane person would want to swim in a place called
that???). We saw only one (I'm sure the rest were just resting or something).
However, two sea lions decided they are bored, so they started annoying it, pulling it's fins. I made it clear to them I am more keen on playing with them, then the shark is.
Turns out they are juvenile females (cause they are the friendly ones) I played catch with one of them for a few minutes, and guess what - it won...they are swift as hell under the water, which contradicts their lazy behavior only the beach. At some point is stopped and really stared at me, then it blew a huge bubble at me (2 days later I found out they do that to imitate human beings. How sweet is that.
So on my last day there I started feeling very bad, I thought I caught a cold or something. When I got to Quito with high fever, head aches, throat ache and shivering I decided to postpone my night bus to Peru. It turned out
as a good idea (as much as I wanted to get to Peru already) since I did not sleep all night, just shivered and switched from being utterly cold to
burning hot. Yesterday Veronica took me to the doctor, who also ran a blood test, just to find out I've got an "internal infection" from something I ate!!! that was certainly the last thing I had thought about!!! I always
thought that when I get a food poisoning of some sort, I would be spending my days in the toilet, not in bed!
So now I'm on antibiotics, wasting my days here in Quito (what is it with me and getting stuck in big cities?) Peru is calling! At least I'm in a dorm so I have people to keep me company. Me and the maid are already good friends.
