Alas, We Did Not Win
In November 2005, the
Akzo Nobel Internet Platform Architecture was competing in the Dutch National ICT Architecture Championships. Unfortunately, the joint effort of Centrical, Info Support, TheFactor.e and Evident didn't win.
However, the jury called the
architecture description crystal clear, used the phrase "the Internet Platform is state-of-the-art" and also praised the methodology description. You can read the full
jury report if you like.
RSS import using AJAX and .NET
Below you can download a bare-bones code example that will import an RSS feed using an asynchronous Javascript (AJAX) call. Restrictions in browser security prohibit asynchronous calls to a different domain, so it uses a server-side .NET RSS hub that grabs it from another server. This hub also does the parsing to XHTML, using an XSL style sheet.

Centrical product Site of the Day
The first product of the Akzo Nobel Internet Platform, Akzo Nobel’s recently relaunched corporate website, has won an official Site of the Day honor from Macromedia. Centrical's Sander is lead architect and technical manager in this project.

The award, which was made today, means that the company’s site takes pride of place in the Showcase section of Macromedia’s own website.
Macromedia says it “recognizes websites based on their use of strong visual designs, superior functionalities, and innovative uses of Macromedia products.” They add that by handing out the award, they want to “give credit to the creative and engineering talent behind the scenes.”

Congress Abandons WikiConstitution
Congress scrapped the open-source, open-edit, online version of the Constitution Monday, only two months after it went live.
"The idea seemed to dovetail perfectly with our tradition of democratic participation," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said. "But when so-called 'contributors' began loading it down with profanity, pornography, ASCII art, and mandatory-assault-rifle-ownership amendments, we thought it might be best to cancel the project."
Congress intends to restore the Constitution to its pre-Wiki format as soon as an unadulterated copy of the document can be found.

Microsoft aims at Google
"Microsoft will take aim at rival Google next week with a new Web development plan.
The software company plans to open access to its MSN and other public Web sites to let developers assemble new applications that build on those sites--a technique used successfully at Google and at other Web companies to promote their properties."
