Professional history

I worked for:
  • Geophysics.nl
  • C-Factory
  • Evident Interactive
  • Centrical
  • Albumprinter
Currently, I work for Albumprinter as their chief architect.

Geophysics.nl / 1998-2000
In a first attempt to do something commercial with the internet, this little venture was built around the result of our thesis.

In order to prevent multiple visits to an exploration site, a web application was developed around an inversion algorithm for the processing of electro-magnetic field data. Using the internet, the application could be accessed at the remote location, thereby allowing for better targeting of the research goal.

The results were presented at the EEGS conference in Budapest, Hungary (1999).

We tried to market the application under the name Geophysics.nl, but we couldn't really make it a commercial succes. Eventually, the faculty of Earth Sciences of Utrecht University continued the developent of the software - using it for scientific research only.

C-factory / 2000-2001
I worked for C-factory as their technical project manager. C-factory used to be one of the rapidly growing web builders. I was responsible for functional design, architectures and technical management. Projects included web applications for Elsevier Business Publications, Falk Courier, NRC, AKN and more.

C-factory ceased to exist in the collapse of the Internet bubble in mid-2001. At that time, over 60 people worked there.

Evident Interactive / 2001-2004
After C-factory went down, Evident Interactive hired me as senior business analyst. For this Microsoft specialist I participated in projects for customers like Akzo Nobel, KPN Hi, DTZ Zadelhoff, Ballast Nedam, VNU Exhibitions Europe, Sanoma Publishers and more. Tasks were presales evangelism, application design and technical management.

In 2004, an application for VNU won the Europrix award and was nominated for the Dutch ICT Awards.

Centrical
During the years 2002/2003, Centrical was a personal playground for new ideas and concepts.
However, since 2004, I serviced customers like Akzo Nobel, HvU, HKZ, Albumprinter and more under the name of Centrical. See the case studies on my resume for more information.

Although I was quite happy being self-employed, I really wanted to work for a company with a popular consumer product. So, when Albumprinter CEO Joris Keijzer asked me to join Albumprinter in 2006, I couldn't resist.

Albumprinter
From 2006 and on, Albumprinter employed me. See this explanation for more about Albumprinter.
