In the ongoing battle between me and Google Blogger, I struck back once again. I still use the content management tools of Blogger and its security features, but.... Behold: I use the Blogger Gdata API to retrieve content from my old Blogger website, and subsequently show this content in a website that lives in the Google App Engine. Yeah.
So, you are looking at a Blogspot site hosted on Google App Engine.
Good things: I can create my own website. This means I can do stuff that Blogger can't - like a custom home page, "read more" links in a list and decent static content. More importantly, I can determine the size of my web pages. No more forced giant Blogger javascript files, hallelujah!
Bad things: neither Blogger nor App Engine APIs support free text search. That means my search functionality sucks, because I am forced to use the Yahoo Search API now. Its results are uhm.. disappointing, to say the least.
The worst: I made the move to Blogger because I didn't want to do any programming anymore, and look at me now. I don't even speak Python. Using the cloud is kind of cool, though.
Blogger site on App Engine
Sounds interesting ... is it possible to take a look at the code?
