Fresh from TechEd

On TechEd 2004 a lot of attention was paid to Windows CE and applications for smart devices like pocket pc's and such.

Many new soft- and hardware gadgets were shown by evangelists. These are the people that get so excited about the new Microsoft breed that many people will stop buying current solutions to wait for the next wave. This can't be right, Bill!

Virtual Server 2005

Next to Virtual PC 2004, Microsoft is preparing for a server—side–version of their virtualization technology: Virtual Server 2005.

It is a virtual machine solution for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Virtual machine technology enables you to run multiple operating systems concurrently on a single physical server. The product has been designed to support software test and development, legacy application migration, and server consolidation scenarios. You can also use it for demonstration purposes.

ISV’s and System Integrators can use this product to setup test environments for several different version of their currently supported products. This makes bug-tracking possible.

Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer

"The time has come to dump Internet Explorer. I know you may have heard the same thing before from those that think it's cool to hate Microsoft; but I'm not one of those guys. I'm actually an MCSE and I happen to like quite a few of Microsoft's products. Rather than lump me into the Microsoft-basher category, consider for a moment why you use the browser you use, and humor me by entertaining the notion, if even for a second, that switching to another might be worth your while."

Rapid prototyping

Rapid prototyping is an essential part of the planning and design stage of any project.

By providing early sample configurations to the customer, features and requirements can be adjusted according to the customer's environment. In many cases, prototypes also help coordinate the hardware development and software development in a project. The result is a significant and beneficial impact on time to market. This article describes how to set up a virtual build environment with minimal effort by using Microsoft Virtual PC and Windows PE on a development computer. See this page for the details.

Information Bridge Framework

Information Bridge Framework increases extensibility of the Microsoft Office-based information integration solutions. The IBF relies on Smart Tags and enables you to integrate with Office System 2003 without building developing for Office itself. Exposing your applications functionality with Web Services is the start for using IBF.

Whether you are interested in learning about Information Bridge Framework itself or learning about Microsoft Office solutions development with Information Bridge, you will find relevant information here.
